You always want to start talking to a landscape designer as early as possible so you don't end up living in a new house surrounded by a building site for 6 months.

Depending on the complexity of your project your garden design could take up to 4 weeks to be completed, following by another 4-6 weeks to get to the Master Plan stage and 2-3 more weeks to get the working drawings done. Then permits will be required which can take more weeks, even months. 

The smart thing to do is to engage with a landscape designer the minute your architectural plans for your home are completed.

Depending on the complexity of the project, the garden for a new home will typically cost between $150k -300k.
